Generator Set Component Trouble Shooting Procedures
This information is presented strictly as a guide. It may not be appropriate for all generator sets. Consult your Generator Set manufacturer or your dealer for more precise testing procedures.
Testing Of Components Page #1

Stator
1) Remove Control Panel
2) Disconnect capacitor wires to check resistance of auxiliary winding phase
3) Disconnect the four power output leads to check resistance of main winding
4) Check all leads for a ground to frame of the unit. Meter -movement indicates a short. Replace the Stator  
Rotor
1) Remove the Stator from the engine
2) Unsolder wires from the Diodes
3) Check resistance per chart
4) Check all leads for a ground to frame. Meter-movement indicates a short. Replace the Stator.  
Diodes
1) Check Diodes with an Ohmmeter. Unsolder one side of the diode from the circuit. The meter dial should deflect in one direction and not deflect when the leads are reversed if the diode is good.
2) If the dial moves in both directions or does not move at all in both directions, the diode is bad. Replace the diode.
